Senior Championship v Drumreilly

We lost to Drumreilly in the Senior Championship in Ballinamore on Saturday evening by 1-12 to 2-8.It is hard to know how Annaduff lost this match as despite playing badly, they were the dominant team throughout the match, leading at half time by three points and leading by 2-8 to 0-10 with three minutes of normal time remaing however the Drumreilly goal from James Holohan was decisive. Dermot Reynolds injury was a factor although his replacement Thomas Flanagan was excellent. We now face a “Must win match” against Ballinamore in Carrick on Saturday evening at 7.30. Highlights from an Annaduff point of view were two great goals from Joe Cox and Ronan McCormack. : Annaduff : Kevin Ludlow, James Cox, Dermot Reynolds, Nigel Cox, Conor McLoughlin, David Duignan ( Capt.), (0-1), Dylan Keane, Ronan McCormack (1-0), Cathal Cox, Ray Cox ( 0-1), Sean McNabola ( 0-3), David McHugh, Alan Cox, Padraic Carroll, Joe Cox ( 1-3). We beat St. Mary’s in Division 1 on Saturday in Pairc Sean by 1-8 to 1-3. Brendan Guckian and Ronan McCormack more than held their own in the vital midfield area against the Lowe brothers who starred for Leitrim against Sligo. This was a poor match with Mary’s the better team in the first half.Joe Cox opened the scoring with a point. Ray Cox added a second before Carrick get the next three scores points from Colm O’Reilly and Pauric McWeeney and a goal in the 19th minute from Conor McWeeney.Ray Cox then pointed a free with Joe Cox completing the first half scoring to leave Mary’s leading at half time by 1-2 to 0-4.At the start of the second half Robert Lowe and Ray Cox from a free exchanged points. In the 45th minute Ray Cox pointed from a free to put the teams level. In the 47th minute Ray Cox was fouled in the square after an assist from Brendan Guckian however Sean McNabolas spot kick was well saved by Anthony Conway.A minute later Matty Cox put Annaduff into the lead with a point. In the 59th minute Alan Cox sent over a long range point to put Annaduff two points ahead and then with almost the last kick of the match Brendan Guckian got the goal giving Alan Conway no chance with a powerful shot. Annaduff : Kevin Ludlow, James Cox, Dermot Reynolds, Chris Farrell, Matty Cox (0-1), David Duignan ( Capt.), Sean McNabola, Brendan Guckian (1-0), Ronan McCormack, Colm Cox, Cathal Cox, Ray Cox ( 0-4), Alan Cox (0-1),Joe Cox ( 0-2), Seamus Mulvihill.
