The Newtowngore U17s Championship :
With injuries and lads away we had to concede our U17s first round away to St Josephs in Carrigallen.
The Smith Monumentals Intermediate Championship:
Carrigallen were the visitors to Annaduff last weekend in our second round of the IFC.
Sean McNabola got the Annaduff scoreboard going with a point free in the fifth min, followed by one from play by Eoin Gill. Sean and Kenny knocked over a point a piece before a super pass from Adam O Hagan and a well taken goal by the boot of Alan Glancy left the score at 1-4 to no score in the first quarter. Carrigallen had a couple of free chances but were unable to convert into scores. In the 19th min a point from play from Kenny followed a point from a free by Alan, Carrigallen looked to be in trouble.
Before the break Carrigallen converted 2 points from frees and one from play. Also Sean McNabola with a point from a free and one from Ray Cox from play left the half time score Annaduff 1-08 to Carrigallen 0-3.
Sean McNabola got the scoreboard going again in the second half with a point inside the 1st min followed with point from a free from Carrigallen, Eoin, Alan and Ray hit over the next three points before Karl Foley made a couple of substitution changes, realistic with 12 min to go the game looked over but in fairness to Carrigallen there lads stuck at it. A blow for them in the 52nd min with a black card for Eoin ward followed by a well taken point from Liam Taylor. Shane Morrison was given a red card followed soon by Liam O Rourke ( Carrigallen) a late point kicked by former County man Gary Reynolds left the full time score: Annaduff 1-13 to Carrigallen 0-08.

Team: Darragh Burke, Stephen Murray, Hugh Moylan, Mattie Cox, Adam O Hagan, Dillon Keane, Dermot Reynolds, Kenny Cox(0-2), Conor Reynolds, Cathal Cox, Alan Glancy(1-2)(1f), Sean McNabola(0-4)(2f),
Eoin Gill(0-2),Ray Cox(0-2), Jack Hughes.
Subs: Colm Cox for Ray, & Shane Morrison for Stephen Murray (42min), Michael Murray for Eoin Gill (48min), Liam Taylor(0-1) for Cathal Cox ( 51min) Mark Beirne for Hugh Moylan (6o min).

Annaduff GAA would like to thank our stewarts for helping on the gate and Car park also to Barry Guckian for the liveview of the game that picked up audiences from all over including the UK and the USA.
The Vistamed Junior A Championship:
Our JAFC round one was away to St Marys Carrick on Sunday last. A disappointing start to their championship but I’m sure Alan Coxs Men will bounce back.
Full time score: Annaduff 0-5 to St Marys 3-8.
Sean Gallagher, Johnny Harte, Chris Farrell, Nigel Cox, Donal McNabola, Shane Morrison, Francis Shanley, Gavin O Brien(0-1), Kenny Cox(04)(2f),Jason Ward, Aaron Duignan, Johnny O Connor(0-1), James Riordan, Liam Taylor, Colm Cox.
Subs: Hugh Boyce for Colm (25min), Stephen Murray for Johnny Harte (32min), Sean Quigley from James (39min).

Congratulations Colleen:
Congratulations and well done to Colleen Guckian who has used the Cov-19 lockdown to write her first novel. Indeed anyone who has been following Colleens Facebook posts over the last few months will know that her thought process is incredibly creative. The sky didn’t fall introduces us to two young ladies in 1940s Ireland, gently takes us through the next decade of their lives and their journey across the Irish Sea and back. Our heroines deal with the very different cards that faith deals them and in Colleen’s capable hands, the pair grow, live, love and dance and the sky didn’t fall.Written under her maiden name Colleen McCarthy (as a nod to her parents), the sky didn’t fall is available in the Reading Room Bookshop in Carrick-on-Shannon and on Amazon from Friday, July 31.

The Smith Monumentals Intermediate Championship:
Our first round of the IFC V Kiltubrid took place in Cloone on Friday evening last. Under terrible wet and dark conditions. Before the game there was a Minute silence for the late Noel Duignan (Annaduff) and the late Brendan Meehan (Kiltubrid). This was the opening game of the Leitrim 2020 Championship. A very close game throughout with less than 10 min to go Kiltubrid looked like they were going away with a win, but in true Annaduff spirit and drive we came away with the win under the narrowest of margins. With two points in the bag, its a great way to start for Karl Foleys Men. Full time score: Annaduff 0-10 Kiltubrid 0-09.
Team: Darragh Burke, Michael Murray, Hugh Moylan, Michael Cox, Adam O Hagan, Conor Reynolds, Dean Gill, Dillon Keane, Jack Hughes, Eoin Gill(0-1), Sean McNabola(0-6)(5f), Dermot Reynolds, Mattie Cox, Cathal Cox, Alan Glancy(0-3)(f).

The Return of Club activities:

Training in groups of ten is permitted from June 29th which is also the date when pitches around the county will be allowed to reopen. Health questionnaires which will involve temperature checking will have to be completed by individuals before they travel to training sessions and clubs to appoint numerous COVID-19 supervisors. The club season is scheduled to run from the last day of July to October 11th. Clubs are only allowed to resume contact training eleven days before the provisional start of the championship. Clubs are to be educated on COVID-19 before facilities can reopen with appropriate signage to be erected in suitable locations around facilities including pitch side reinforcing social distancing, hand and respiratory hygiene, avoidance of personal contact and spitting. Sanitiser dispensers are to be put in place at club grounds. Dressing rooms, gyms and social areas are to remain closed in Phase 3. Clubs have been advised that toilets are to be “regarded as potentially contaminated areas”. Doors and windows are to stay open were appropriate to allow for ventilation. A regular cleaning programme with daily deep disinfection to be followed. A medical isolation room will now be a compulsory piece of infrastructure for the “unlikely event that a player becomes unwell during a training session” so that there is a facility were they can isolate immediately. Dressing rooms could be used for this purpose as they will not be in use. Each GAA club will be required to have a number of COVID supervisors. They will have to complete the Gaelic Games online education module. Every GAA team is expected to have an individual with responsibility for COVID-19 supervision whose main duties will include distributing and collating health questionnaires before each session or game, to ensure the sanitising of facilities is completed before and after each session or game, maintaining a record of attendees. Questionnaires are to be handed to the supervisor upon entry to the ground Access to dressing rooms, clubhouse and shower areas is not allowed until further notice, the GAA has confirmed. The use of toilets will be allowed “on a controlled basis”. Individuals attending GAA activities are encouraged to walk or cycle to the venue. Members from different households are not allowed travel together in the one car according to the document. Team meetings have been discouraged by the GAA’s COVID Advisory Group. “Eliminate all non-essential gatherings and put robust control measures in place for essential interaction,” is the recommendation. If team meetings are held, they should be done so outdoors or online. From Phase 3 onwards, teams must train in small groups of ten only with two coaches in a designated area of the field. All players and personnel involved must complete the mandatory Gaelic Games online education module which will be available on the GAA eLearning portal. A certificate of completion is to be obtained by COVID supervisors.
