Connacht Scór na nÓg:
Well done to all from our parish who took part in the Connacht Scór na nÓg finals in Claremorris last weekend. First up from our team on the day was Caoimhe Mooney who gave a powerful rendition of a ballad called Gleanntáin Ghlas Ghaoth Dobhair which was written by her grand uncle. Next up was our ballad group, consisting of Emily Gannon, Claire Flanagan, Síofra Mooney, Ailíse Maxwell and Caoimhe Mooney. They sang two ballads, My Home in Annaduff which was written by Fionnuala Maxwell and Bacach Shíl Andaí and they did a wonderful job on both, accompanied by Caoimhe on guitar. The last competition of the day saw our set dancers on stage – Caoimhe and Síofra Mooney, Laura and Claire Flanagan, Aobhlinn and Ailíse Maxwell, Eimear Healy and Katie Faughnan. They danced their hearts out and got a rousing response from the crowd. Huge thanks to Eithne Fox and Anna Crossley for their work with the dancers and to Fionnuala Maxwell for working with the singers. Unfortunately no medals came our way but the experience that the girls gained and their pride in representing the parish and county meant they were winners in so many ways. Anyone who would like to get involved in Scór for Annaduff in the future, in any of the categories contact Fionnuala on 086 8664639.
