Senior Championship

Annaduff 2:9 Mohill 0:18

A close game ended with a victory for the defending county champions in Cloone on Sunday. Annaduff opened the scoring from the boot of one of the man of the match contenders, Matthew Reynolds but Mohill went on to score the next five without reply. With just five minutes remaining in the first half Mohill had built up a lead of nine points to two before Alan Glancy converted a spot kick, Sean McNabola and Ray Cox adding points to Mohill’s one in reply, left just three points between the sides at the interval. Dillon Keane opened the scoring in the second half and on the 42nd minute Joe Cox hit the back of the net to leave the sides level. With 15 minute remaining Sean Mc put Annaduff into the lead but Mohill made the better of their scoring opportunities in the closing minutes and finished three up.

One of our main attractions this year is “Eagles Flying”, the largest Centre for Birds of Prey and Owls in the country will be on the pitch. Sam Maguire will visit on the day and you can take your own picture with the famous trophy or replicate that iconic Croke Park scene of the first Sunday in September. Make sure you bring your camera with you. Another highlight is a display of photography and memorabilia of life in the parish over the last 100 years.

We came out on top in the first of our two weekend encounters with the neighbours in Annaduff on Saturday. This was an even contest for much of the game and the sides were level with one minute remaining. St Marys opened the scoring and led by three before Sean McNabola opened the Annaduff account. St Marys registered two more points before Sean hit the back of the net for the first of his two goals, three points the margin at half time. An intense second half opened with 4 more points from Sean’s boot, one in particular to be savoured to a single St Marys over which brought the sides level with 20 minutes remaining. A frantic and entertaining final 19 minutes featured Ray Cox rattling the onion bag, and 3 more Annaduff points from Ray and Joe, all canceled out by St Marys scores.
In the 59th Minute Sean Mc sent in a wickedly curling long range free which evaded the Carrick keeper to give Annaduff the game.

Annaduff: Darragh Burke, Chris Farrell, Dean Gill, Nigel Cox, David Duignan, Matthew Reynolds, Mattie Cox, Dillon Keane, Kenny Cox, Hugh Moylan, Frank McNabola, Sean McNabola (2:5), Joe Cox (0:2), Ray Cox (1:1), Alan Glancy. Subs used: James Cox, Aaron Duignan

D3 Semi Final St Marys 0:19 Annaduff 1:11

The weekend’s second tie against St Marys brought our D3 season to a close. St Marys had opened up an 8 point lead by half time and despite some good individual performances including one of the finest points that Noel Ward has ever scored, we didn’t manage to reel the lead back in.

U21 Championship

Our under 21 championship campaign which was shoehorned into a week between two knockout D3 games for the club lasted just 60 minutes. A depleted Annaduff side went down to a well organised Melvin Gaels outfit on Wednesday. The under 21 grade is now played, unlike all the other club championships in the county in a straight knockout format and will be wrapped up in haste three weeks after the first ball was thrown in, pity really.

Annaduff: Shane Cox, Eoin Moylan, Donal McNabola, James Doherty, Hugh Moylan, Daire Guckian, Eoin Reynolds, Kenny Cox, Adam O Hagan, Sean Duignan, Ciaran Egan, Ronan Egan, Eamon Reddan, Cian O Loughnan.

Annaduff does Lip Sync

Following on from last years outstanding Annaduff Does Strictly, our Committee have decided to do something a little different, but just as entertaining. On Friday the 25th of November 2016, we will be hosting Annaduff Does Lip-Sync, in The Landmark Hotel,Carrick-on-Shannon.
If you fancy playing the role of your all-time favourite singer, or being a member of a legendary group in full costume, playing to backing tracks in front of a packed crowd in an electric atmosphere, this is made for you. It promises to be a great nights entertainment for everyone to enjoy.
We will be releasing more details as we go along. so for all you budding rock stars, keep an eye on these notes….

Damage

On morning of 22nd of June 2016, club officials were alerted to bins thrown around, bottles broken and items damaged inside our club grounds. Last weekend we also learned that property had been stolen from Drumsna Church. Both of these locations are central to Parish life, and it is so disappointing to see them targeted.

Both incidents are being investigated by the Gardai.

Family Day

As part of our annual family fun day we are planning a display of photography and memorabilia of life in the parish over the last 100 years. If you have any items or photographs which you could lend the club (items and photos will be lovingly cared for and then returned) please contact Declan Shanley 086 398 6006 or Donal Fox 086 605 4339.
