At a bitterly cold Annaduff on Sunday Aughavas beat Annaduff by 1-13 to 1-6. This was a much improved performance from our second team compared to the first round. Aughavas playing with a very strong wind led at the break by 0-12 to 0-0.  Annaduff playing with the wind in the second half outscored the visitors by 1-6 to 1-1  with our goal coming from Johnny O’Connor. Annaduff : Kevin Ludlow,Padraic McGlynn, Thomas Flanagan, Hugh Moylan, Ronan Conroy (0-1), Dean Gill, Matthew Reynolds, Brendan Lynch, Alan Rowley (0-2),Micheal O’Dowd, Cathal Cox (Capt.),Karl Foley, Niall Maxwell ( 0-3),Gary O’Brien, Frank McNabola. At the draw held in Duignan’s, there was no Jackpot winner. The numbers drawn were 3,9,21,22.The 50 Euro winner was Thomas Faughnan, Annaduff. The 25 Euro winners were Doreen Ward, Annaduff, John Dowling, Dromod, Jonathan Harte, Aughintass, Patricia Reilly, Glebe.

 

Silver Medal for Annaduff

Congratulations to Joanna Duignan, Gortinee daughter of Teresa and Philip on winning a Silver Medal in the 800 metres under 18 at the All Ireland Championships in Athlone.

 

Defeat in Division 1

John Faughnan’s team suffered their first defeat in Division 1 when losing to an impressive Drumreilly by 0-11 to 0-8 at a very cold Annaduff on Monday.Drumreilly playing with the advantage of a strong wind led at the break by 0-9 to 0-2. Annaduffs first half points came from Kenny Cox and Sean McNabola with Niall Maxwell coming close with a goal chance.The second half saw Annaduff with the wind coming into the match much more Sean McNabola had his penalty well saved by the Drumreilly keeper Michael McGirl in the 38th minute, our second half points came from Kenny Cox with two, Sean McNabola with two and points from Alan Rowley and Niall Maxwell to leave Drumreilly deserving winners by three points.Annaduff  : Thomas Flanagan, James Cox, Dillon Keane, Nigel Cox, Dean Gill, David Duignan, Gary Bohan, Alan Rowley (0-1), Matty Cox (capt.), Cathal Cox, Kenneth Cox (0-3), Karl Foley, Niall Maxwell (0-1),Conor Reynolds, Sean McNabola (0-3).
